I often ask people if happiness is a personal goal. And if it indeed is, what happiness looks like to them, how they define it etc. I think this particular aspect of living fascinates me.
I usually get a myriad of responses. Some I sense that a lot of thought has gone into it, very specific to self and such like things. Some is the usual stuff we are told we need to be happy – the template stuff.
For where I am, happiness is not a goal. I don’t know what happiness looks like, I can’t define it and therefore don’t see the point of adding that pressure to this existence.
I find joy where I can. I know what joy feels like. I know what exhilaration feels like. And so whatever pockets of joy I find, I relish.
